Sharing Faith with Albert Lockett

In All Articles, Next Gen Spotlight, SPOTLIGHT by Urban Well

My name is Albert Lockett and I am a 2015 graduate of Red Oak High School, where I was involved in Band, Link Crew, Peer Coaching, Tennis and was President of the HOSA Club. In addition to the many activities in school, much of my time was spent in church.

I am a student at Navarro and will transfer to a larger university once I complete my basics. I plan to major in Finance and minor in Spanish. I know God has a plan for me and if he takes me on a different route, then I will follow. In the summer of 2012, I began working with kids at The Hockaday School as a camp counselor, and this summer will be my fifth year. It is there I realized I was great with kids and loved being an impact on their lives. During the school year, I work as a teacher in Red Oaks’s after school program called After the Bell. I am also the children’s church teacher at Life Church in Waxahachie. My faith has become stronger every year and I feel it is my responsibility to share my faith with kids.

I would not be the person I am today if not for my family. Being the youngest, I look up to my two amazing brothers and their wives as role models and appreciate their support. Of course, I cannot forget about my hard working parents who would do anything for me. Since my brothers and my parents did not go to college, I am the first in my family to go. I want to make my family proud and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for my future.

I thank my pastor and church family for all the support they give me. One piece of advice I would give to others is to continue to follow God’s footsteps. As I start becoming a young man, I realize how God can work numerous things out.
