Staying Positive with Natalie Wilt

In All Articles, Next Gen Spotlight, SPOTLIGHT by Urban Well

I was raised in Waxahachie, TX. I have lived in the same house and have attended the same school district my entire life. I grew up in church and love the relationship that I have with the Lord. I had always lived a pretty easy and sheltered life, which I am proud of, but in late December of 2012 my world turned.

My older brother (by five years), was in an accident and was not conscious. As my family waited for what seemed an eternity, I continued to pray for God to give me an answer about my brother’s life; would he make it or not? After waiting three days in a hospital God responded to my prayer and Ryan went to be with the Lord. If you had told me when I was twelve that I would one day lose my brother, living the rest of my life without him, I would have told you that you were crazy. I believed God did not allow horrible things to happen to people who truly loved Him. However, with that being said, it happened.

Since my brother’s tragic accident, my family has been able to continue his legacy of friendship and commitment with a Foundation that provides local scholarships. Going through this experience with my family has allowed me to share about God’s love and peace with others. For example last year one of my teachers asked how I have stayed so positive and joyful. My response was simply Romans 8:18 “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later!”

Today, I am very glad to say that my relationship with God has only grown! As a senior at Waxahachie High, I plan to graduate in the top ten percent of my class. I have enjoyed being involved as a student, especially in the theatre department where I have been in several plays. Through my involvement in student council, I help coordinate the Spirit Squad for the sporting events. My interest in English and History, which I love, have led to the aspiration to teach one of those subjects at the High School level after I graduate from college. Outside of school I am an active member at Rockett Baptist Church. At church I am the leader of the Drama team ministry. I do all the skits for Vacation Bible School and have been to New Orleans for a Mission Trip where we did VBS for a very small church there.

My next step after high school is to enroll at Dallas Baptist University (DBU). I am interested in DBU because of its high rated Education Program and the passion for Christ that the staff expresses within the school.

I hope to inspire people with my story of faith, tragedy, and hope. Even when life seems impossible, with God it is possible!
